KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Murray Hunter (MH) reached a Consent Order at the Shah Alam High Court yesterday following a lawsuit filed by MCMC against the blogger over defamatory statements published on his platform.

In a statement, MCMC said the online proceedings were held before Justice Noor Hayati Mat.

“The Consent Order also forms part of a Settlement Agreement dated January 12, 2026, relating to criminal proceedings against MH in Thailand, which likewise arose from defamatory statements made against MCMC,” the statement said.

During the proceedings, MCMC was represented by Datuk Selva Mookiah and Nurshafiqa Balqish Jaffri, while Hunter appeared in person, representing himself.

Hunter had earlier issued a public apology and removed all defamatory publications from his platform.

He also confirmed his commitment not to repeat the publication of similar statements in the future.

“MCMC takes seriously any false and defamatory statements, and will continue to take appropriate action to protect its integrity and ensure accountability in relation to such reckless and irresponsible publications,” it said. — February 5, 2026
