KUALA LUMPUR — A convoy of 120 motorcycle riders roared into SMK Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh today, marking the launch of the “Kembara Revolusi TVET” programme aimed at driving home one message to students: technical skills are now the “new currency” of the job market.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the two-day tour across six locations in Selangor and Perak was more than a symbolic ride, describing it as part of the Madani government’s push to position Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key engine of economic growth.
“This is not just a tour or showcase. It is about giving students clearer direction on career pathways, training opportunities and the real advantages of mastering technical skills,” he said after officiating the programme.
The first series this year covers six schools, including SMK Khir Johari and SMK Seri Manjung in Perak, before expanding to the northern, eastern and southern zones.
Ramanan said TVET’s strongest selling point was its 95.5% graduate employability rate, reflecting strong industry demand.
“Today’s industry is not just looking for workers. It needs skilled personnel in critical fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, automation and green technology.
“TVET is no longer a second option. It is a primary career path that offers a bright future,” he said.
He also announced an allocation of RM200,000 to upgrade the school hall, on top of RM30,000 previously provided for minor repairs, saying improved facilities were part of efforts to create a more supportive learning environment for students entering the skills sector. — February 11, 2026
