KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has denied claims that former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli is under investigation.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the commission has not opened any investigation papers regarding allegations of RM1.1 billion misappropriation involving a senior minister.
He explained that MACC is still reviewing documents submitted by three non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that lodged complaints and provided supporting materials.
“I stand by the statement of my deputy, Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya, who said that our investigators are currently examining these documents. So why are there claims of a raid targeting a specific individual (Rafizi)?” he asked, according to Berita Harian.
Earlier, Ahmad Khusairi had confirmed that MACC was assessing the NGOs’ documents before deciding whether to initiate a formal investigation.
Azam added that every MACC investigation adheres to principles of transparency and the laws of the country.
Yesterday, the commission confirmed it was reviewing allegations of RM1.1 billion misappropriation linked to a senior minister, following reports filed by several NGOs.
The clarification comes after Rafizi, at a press conference with several PKR MPs, claimed that, based on internal MACC sources, he was expected to be raided by the commission.– February 13, 2026
