KUALA LUMPUR – Former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has urged the public to attend a rally tomorrow calling for the arrest of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Tan Sri Azam Baki.
In a video posted on Facebook, the Pandan MP said the rally will take place from 4 pm outside the Sogo shopping centre in the city centre. It is jointly organised by electoral reform group Bersih and the “Arrest Azam Baki” secretariat.
“I will join the rally this Sunday to express the demands and concerns of the rakyat over allegations of misappropriation and abuse of power linked to MACC, especially those involving Azam,” he said.
Rafizi acknowledged that the protest would be an uphill battle, describing it as a “fight between a cat and Ultraman”.
“We are small. We are ordinary rakyat. To fight corruption, especially when those involved hold tremendous power, is like a cat battling Ultraman.
“But do not worry. If the truth is on our side, even a cat can defeat Ultraman,” he quipped.
Azam recently came under scrutiny following a report by Bloomberg on his shareholdings in a financial services company.
He has maintained that his RM800,000 shareholding was acquired transparently and declared in accordance with procedures, and that the shares were disposed of within the same year. Azam has also initiated legal action against Bloomberg.
The government has since set up a special task force to investigate the matter.– February 14, 2026
