KUALA LUMPUR — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged Malaysians not to allow emotions, provocation, or differing opinions to undermine the trust and bonds built among the nation’s people over the years.
In his Chinese New Year message, Anwar said the festival serves as a reminder of prosperity, hope, and the strength to move forward with confidence.
“In this Year of the Horse, diligence, courage, and determination are celebrated, alongside the call to act with wisdom and moderation,” he wrote in a Facebook post today.
He added that differences in opinion should be viewed as opportunities to strengthen mutual respect, reject prejudice, and embrace dialogue, negotiation, and prudence.
Anwar also cited Confucius, noting that harmony arises when people respect and understand one another.
“This is the foundation that enables a multicultural society to live together peacefully, despite differences in culture and beliefs,” he said.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Malaysia will continue to progress as long as harmony, respect, and compassion remain guiding principles.
“May this year bring well-being and prosperity to all Malaysians,” he added. — February 16, 2026
