KUALA LUMPUR – The associate wing of Bersatu has doubled down on its backing for party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, declaring that any attempt to weaken or topple him will be firmly resisted.
Its vice-chief R. Sri Sanjeevan said the wing’s support for Muhyiddin as founding president was “steadfast and unequivocal”, describing him as the central pillar who built the party’s foundation from day one.
“Any attempt, organised movement or conspiracy to topple Tan Sri President is not only baseless, but will be resisted wholeheartedly by the entire leadership and members of the associate wing,” Sanjeevan, who is also a member of Bersatu’s supreme leadership council, said in a statement.
The strong show of loyalty comes amid the resignation of several individuals, including associate wing chief Dr Chong Fatt Full.
Sanjeevan said the wing respected their decision as a personal choice, stressing that departures were not unusual in a large political organisation.
“In any large organisation, the comings and goings of members are normal. Like a big family, some may come, and some may leave, but the house remains standing firm,” he said.
He maintained that the associate wing remains “solid, organised and functioning as usual”, with more than 30,000 members nationwide.

While acknowledging that differences of opinion could be expressed in the spirit of democracy, Sanjeevan drew a clear line against efforts to undermine the presidency.
“The struggle is not driven by emotion or personal desire, but anchored on principles, loyalty and organisational discipline.”
Sanjeevan said the wing would continue moving forward in a mature, professional and calm manner despite recent developments.
“In politics, the strongest are not the loudest, but those most loyal in defending the struggle,” he added.
Chong, in quitting the party following the sacking of deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin recently, expressed disappointment with Muhyiddin’s leadership.
He told The Star that Bersatu was “hyper-sensitive”, and predicted its disciplinary board would go after him over the remarks.
“Muhyiddin has not only surrounded himself with the wrong people, but he has also not been fair when he axed so many just because he was criticised,” Chong was quoted as saying, further predicting almost “one-third” of associate wing members to quit the party. – February 17, 2026member of Bersatu’s supreme leadership council, said the wing would continue to move forward in a mature, professional and calm manner.
