Ella files police report after sound system ‘sabotage’ at Bukit Jalil concert

Despite a technical glitch affecting the audio for some fans, the "Majlis Tertinggi Rockqueen" concert was a major success, with 55,000 attendees and a generous charity donation

KUALA LUMPUR – Rock legend Ella has filed a police report after discovering that the sound system settings at her recent concert in Bukit Jalil National Stadium had been allegedly tampered with, leading to poor audio quality for thousands of attendees.

The issue was first highlighted by concertgoers, particularly those seated in the Bronze category on the third floor, who took to social media to voice complaints about the inadequate sound during the “Majlis Tertinggi Rockqueen” (MTR) concert on February 14, Malay Mail Online reported.

Videos circulated online showing fans chanting “tak dengar” (we can’t hear you).

In a statement, Ella and her management team confirmed that a post-concert investigation revealed the sound system settings had been mysteriously reset to “Default”, differing from the configurations set during rehearsals.

“On Saturday, after receiving complaints from spectators on Level 3, the vendor’s technical team rushed to the SRS room – which houses the Level 3 stadium sound system controls located on the second floor of SNBJ,” the statement explained.

“They discovered that the system’s format setting had been changed to ‘Default’, differing from the settings established during rehearsals.” The issue was resolved by 9.50 pm that evening.

Believing the tampering to be intentional, Ella and her team decided to file a police report.

Both the singer and the concert organiser, Hitman Solutions, have since apologised to the affected fans, particularly those holding Bronze tickets, and are in discussions regarding appropriate compensation.

The concert, otherwise, was a tremendous success, attracting 55,000 fans to the stadium to witness Ella perform over 30 songs. Special guest appearances included Joe Flizzow and Datuk Amy Search, with a standout moment where Ella performed “Standing in the Eyes of the World” alongside national sports icons such as Datuk Nicol David and Farah Ann Abdul Hadi.

In addition, Ella made a generous contribution by donating approximately RM100,000 from ticket sales to several local NGOs, including Persatuan Cinta Gaza Malaysia, the National Welfare Foundation, and Yayasan Artis Tanahair. – February 17, 2026
