KUALA LUMPUR – Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has withdrawn his appeal against his suspension from Bersatu, citing a loss of confidence in the party’s direction and governance.
In a letter to Appeals Board chairman Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun dated February 16, Wan Fayhsal said he would no longer pursue the appeal launched late last year.
“I am no longer interested in pursuing the appeal against the suspension notice due to my loss of confidence in Bersatu’s struggle and the party’s weaknesses in practising good and fair governance,” he said on Facebook.
He described the dismissal of 17 party leaders, including himself, alongside former vice-president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin on February 13 as a coordinated purge.
“This action clearly constitutes a mass purging carried out by those who feel their positions are threatened by our presence in the party we helped build,” he added.
Wan Fayhsal said he felt calm about his decision and thanked the Appeals Board for ensuring justice was observed.
“I feel relieved and at peace with this decision,” he said.
Earlier, Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah also withdrew their appeals. Wan Saiful cited a lack of future for the party, while Saifuddin gave no reason. – February 18, 2026
