KUALA LUMPUR – No elements of abuse or bullying have been detected in the death of military personnel Trooper K. Indiran, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
He said this was based on the results of the post-mortem, conducted this morning.
“Do not politicise this issue; let the matter be investigated first,” he told reporters after presenting the Back-to-School Assistance for the Pasir Gudang parliamentary constituency, in Johor, today.
Mohamed Khaled also said that he did not rule out the possibility of establishing a special committee to investigate the matter, if necessary.
Previously, Penang MIC had called for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the death of Indiran, 22, alleging a strong possibility of internal injuries which warrant further investigation.
On Feb 18, Indiran, who was undergoing an armour crew course at Kem Batu 10 in Kuantan, Pahang, was found unconscious, before being rushed to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead the following day while receiving treatment.
The deceased was the son of Major C. Kayamboo, a pilot with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), who was killed in a 2016 crash involving an RMAF Beechcraft B200T aircraft, after taking off from Subang Air Base, before crashing near the ammunition terminal at Butterworth Air Base, Penang.
Earlier today, Indiran’s mother S. Usha, 52, appealed to the public to refrain from speculating about the circumstances surrounding her son’s death, stressing that unfounded allegations could unfairly tarnish the reputation of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).
Indiran was laid to rest beside his father at Batu Lanchang Indian Cemetery today. – February 21, 2026
