KUALA LUMPUR – Three men charged in connection with a disorderly incident at the Meru Police Station in Klang pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here today.
The accused lorry drivers, A. Magendran, 44, and B. Kalairasan, 38, together with a lorry attendant P. Gopinath, 39, were charged under Police Act 1967 for disorderly conduct at the police station.
The charge was framed under Section 90 of the Act, which provides for a fine of up to RM500, imprisonment for up to six months, or both, upon conviction.
All three entered their pleas after the charges were read out separately before Magistrate Nor Azilah Mat.
In addition, the trio also faces separate charges for allegedly injuring a 29-year-old man using a helmet and an iron bar.
The offence falls under Section 324 of the Penal Code (Malaysia), which carries a penalty of up to 10 years’ imprisonment, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments upon conviction.
Meanwhile, Kalairasan faces an additional charge of committing mischief by damaging a television set at the Meru Police Station, causing losses. The charge, framed under Section 427 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum prison sentence of five years, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Gopinath is also accused of issuing criminal threats against a 24-year-old man, an offence under Section 506 of the Penal Code which provides for imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both if convicted.
The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutors Salman Alfarisi Nawawi and Ahmad Sulfie Abu Hassan, while lawyer A. Biranta represented all three accused.
The court allowed bail of RM13,000 each for Kalairasan and Gopinath, while Magendran was granted bail of RM9,000. They were also ordered to report to the nearest police station once a month. The case has been fixed for mention on May 25.
Earlier, five men were detained for the incident at the Meru police station.
According to North Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao, the incidet took place around 9.40pm when three men went to the police station to lodge a police report.
He added that the dispute broke out when another five men arrived at the moment. – March 6, 2026
