KUALA LUMPUR – The government’s Chief Secretary (KSN), Tan Sri Shamsul Azri, will determine the next steps concerning the share ownership issue involving Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi explained that the Cabinet made the decision after receiving investigation documents from Attorney General (AG) Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, who leads the special committee assigned to investigate the allegations against Azam.

“I will not disclose the results of the report, as further actions need to be taken by the KSN,” he said, adding that the Cabinet looks forward to receiving more information from the KSN on the matter.

Meanwhile, Fahmi also noted that the issue regarding corporate manipulation reported by several media portals was discussed in today’s Cabinet meeting.

“The Cabinet has been informed that investigations into several individuals began a few years ago,” he said.

Following this, the Cabinet has instructed the authorities, including the Police, Securities Commission, MACC and the Home Ministry to conduct an in-depth investigation, adding that this investigation will not be limited to individuals currently in the early stages of inquiry.

“Appropriate legal action should be taken, including the seizure of assets suspected to involve criminal elements, and investigations should be carried out to identify any irregularities in the existing system that may indicate corporate manipulation,” he added.

At the same time, Fahmi also addressed issues related to Race, Religion, and Royalty (3R), stressing that strict action must be taken by relevant authorities, including the Attorney General.

He further stated that a review should be conducted to determine whether any gaps or irregularities in existing laws prevent authorities from taking legal action, such as making arrests or carrying out remands.

He said the goal is to amend the laws to better address and prevent 3R-related issues in the future. – March 11, 2026
