KUALA LUMPUR – A senior officer at the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) today pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court to receiving RM50,000 without consideration from the son of former Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, eight years ago.
SSM deputy chief executive officer (Registration & Business Services) Khuzairi Yahaya, 55, was accused of obtaining the sum from Muhammad Faisal Hamzah, knowing the payment was linked to his official duties, local media reported.
The alleged offence took place at SSM@Sentral Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur in May 2018.
The charge, framed under Section 165 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum penalty of two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both if convicted.
Judge Suzana Hussin granted bail of RM15,000 with one surety and ordered Khuzairi to surrender his passport to the court. He must also report monthly to the nearest Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office. The case is set for mention on April 20.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Fadhly Mohd Zamry appeared for the prosecution, while Khuzairi was represented by lawyer Muhamad Aizat Fakri. – March 12, 2026
