KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered a comprehensive review of work-from-home (WFH) proposals to ensure administrative consistency, according to Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
“The Prime Minister has asked the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSU) and the Public Service Department director-general (KPPA) to examine the WFH proposals,” Fahmi said during a press briefing today.
The KSU and KPPA are tasked with evaluating the policy to streamline operations while maintaining public service efficiency. Findings from the review will be deliberated, with a final decision expected by Tuesday, March 17.
The WFH proposal is part of the government’s initiative to monitor the economic impact of ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, particularly regarding volatile global oil prices and potential energy supply disruptions.
Yesterday, the matter was also raised with Fahmi, who noted that neighboring countries such as Thailand have taken similar proactive measures, encouraging remote work to reduce energy consumption and manage operational costs amid global economic uncertainty. — March 13, 2026
