KUALA LUMPUR – Human Resources Minister Datuk R. Ramanan is close to hitting an RM800,000 milestone in fulfilling his commitment to return his entire salary and allowances to his constituents since 2023.
Elected as the Sungai Buloh MP in the 15th General Election, he has consistently redirected all parliamentary earnings to support local communities, in line with the Malaysia Madani initiative.
In 2026 alone, RM65,200 has been distributed to mosques, prayer halls (surau), temples, and churches, alongside Friday Infaq and special Ramadan funds.
“This is not about the amount, it is about responsibility. What was promised before must be translated into consistent action,” Ramanan said, highlighting that these contributions reflect his duty to the people.
The outreach also included distributing 10,000 packs of bubur lambuk and 3,350 food baskets to B40 families, helping ease the costs of Aidilfitri preparations.
In addition, the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary People’s Service Centre, in collaboration with government agencies, allocated RM80,350 to implement the Ihya’ Ramadan programme, which provides meals for breaking fast.
Ramanan emphasised that community resilience is nurtured through mutual support and collective care, ensuring the welfare of residents remains a priority.
“Ramadan teaches us the meaning of empathy and compassion. If we are in a position to help others, then it is my responsibility to ensure that no one is marginalised,” he said. – March 18, 2026
