KUALA LUMPUR — Strong family support is important for children’s success, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan said after a meeting with four Malaysian students who won medals at the recent Bangkok Innovation Awards.
The students secured two gold medals and a second-place finish in the Engineering Category for Primary Schools.
They were Ilaneyan Yuvarajan and Theerchanna a/p Muniandy from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) KO Sarangapany, and Ilanarun Yuvarajan and Elamaaran a/l Muniandy from SMK Sultan Badlishah.
Ramanan, who met them at his office, said their achievements marked a milestone for Malaysian youths on the international stage for innovation.
“This achievement is not only a source of pride but proves that our younger generation possesses creative and high-impact ideas capable of gaining international recognition,” he said on Facebook.
He also acknowledged the teachers and family members who guided and supported the students, noting that success was not based on individual effort alone.
“The sacrifice and encouragement from their families are the backbone of these children’s success. It proves that success is not merely an individual effort, but the result of solid collective support,” he said.
Ramanan said he had the chance to talk to the children and offer them encouragement to strive towards a bright future, and hoped that their success would be a catalyst for other youths to venture into global competitions. – March 22, 2026
