KUALA LUMPUR – Former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli’s statement about an alleged RM9.5 million fund linked to a figure known as Ah Long has drawn calls for clarification, with party leaders questioning the source and disclosure of the information.
In a media statement, PKR Youth Wing (AMK) treasurer KS Tan described the claim as “highly questionable”, highlighting the lack of official confirmation from businessman Victor Chin regarding the matter.
He also raised concerns over how such details were obtained, asking, “how Rafizi Ramli could possess such specific information without any formal disclosure.”
Tan criticised the public manner in which the allegation was made, stressing that such claims “without proper channels could be seen as irresponsible.”
“Issues involving funds and elements of financial misconduct are not matters to be politicised or used as tools to influence perception,” he said.
The State Leadership Council (MPN Selangor) deputy secretary added that credible evidence should be channelled through the appropriate authorities rather than disclosed publicly without verification.
“If he indeed has information or solid evidence, the matter should be submitted to the relevant authorities for thorough investigation,” he stated.
Tan warned that public statements of this nature risk creating confusion, undermining trust in institutions, and fuelling speculation about possible motives.
“Statements of this nature not only raise doubts but also create the perception that there may be certain motives behind the revelation,” he explained.
He called on Rafizi to offer a clear and open explanation, particularly regarding the origin of the information.
“The public has the right to know the truth and should not be left caught in a game of perception,” he added.
Rafizi had earlier suggested that Chin possesses solid evidence of the alleged RM9.5 million payment to a PKR MP, hinting that Chin might even have recorded conversations with the individual.
The remarks followed PKR Vice President Datuk Seri R. Ramanan denying involvement, insisting he had never met Chin. Rafizi later clarified that “Mr R”, the alleged middleman, is a different person from the MP linked to the payment and pledged to reveal his identity. – March 26, 2026
