KUALA LUMPUR – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Thursday said Tehran seeks a “complete” end to the ongoing war involving the United States and Israel, aiming to secure lasting peace in West Asia.
Pezeshkian made the remarks during a phone call with Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Xinhua reported.
The discussion covered regional and international developments following recent escalations involving Israel and the US, according to a statement on the Iranian president’s website.
Pezeshkian also commended the Malaysian government and people for their “valuable” principled stance in condemning what he described as the “unlawful and inhumane” attacks on Iran.
“We seek a complete end to the war and security and peace in the region,” he said.
Bernama reported that the country strongly condemned Israel’s attacks on Iran, supported by the US, and stressed that any action targeting civilians constitutes a clear violation of international law.
Anwar extended condolences to the people of Iran over the loss of senior leaders and innocent lives. He noted Iran’s willingness to engage in negotiations, provided there is a definitive end to the war, and emphasised that peace efforts must be anchored in justice, accountability, and sustained commitment.
“Malaysia believes that lasting peace requires a comprehensive resolution to ensure the security of all parties and restore human dignity in West Asia,” Anwar said, according to Bernama. — March 27, 2026
