KUALA LUMPUR – AirAsia has confirmed that no injuries were reported among passengers or crew following an incident involving flight AK720 from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement, the low-cost airline said the flight landed safely at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 at 10.22 pm on April 4, after a section of the hose from a cabin panel became loose and dislodged during the landing.

AirAsia said the aircraft had undergone all required maintenance checks prior to departure, including routine 36-hour inspections involving both visual and physical assessments, and had met all preflight safety requirements.

“AirAsia’s engineering team conducted a thorough inspection upon landing to ensure the affected panel was safe and properly secured,” it said.

AirAsia Malaysia general manager Datuk Captain Fareh Mazputra said the cabin crew responded promptly, in accordance with established safety procedures, ensuring the guests seated beneath the affected panel were attended to and comfortably relocated.

He noted that the aircraft landed safely and was immediately inspected, with the affected panel refitted and secured in line with strict safety standards.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank our guests for their understanding, as safety remains our absolute priority in every aspect of our operations,” he added. – April 8, 2026
