KUALA LUMPUR — Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd has apologised to customers for temporary fuel shortages at some of its stations, assuring that supply will be restored swiftly.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused to our customers and will be working to restore supply to affected stations as soon as possible,” the company said in a statement today.
Shell explained that while it is working hard to support consistent supply across its retail network, sudden peaks in demand may occasionally result in shortfalls at certain locations.
Govt pushes for supply resilience
The company’s pledge comes as the government intensifies efforts to safeguard Malaysia’s fuel security amid the global energy crisis.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir recently said the National Economic Action Council has studied measures to diversify fuel input sources, strengthen strategic cooperation with key trading partners, and secure production inputs.
“The government is focusing on the resilience of the nation’s supply,” he emphasised, underscoring the urgency of protecting Malaysians from disruptions. – April 10, 2026
