Diesel prices remain steady as RON95 and RON97 see slight increases

Finance Ministry cites global supply pressures and West Asia crisis for weekly petrol price adjustments

KUALA LUMPUR – The retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will remain unchanged at RM5.12 per litre, while RON97 and unsubsidised RON95 petrol will rise by five sen and 10 sen respectively for the period April 30 to May 6, 2026.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) said in a statement today that RON97 is now priced at RM4.90 per litre, up from RM4.85, while unsubsidised RON95 has increased to RM3.97 per litre from RM3.87 last week.

Targeted subsidised prices for the public and selected sectors have been maintained, including RON95 (BUDI95) at RM1.99 per litre, diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan at RM2.15 per litre, the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) at RM2.05 per litre, and the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) at RM2.15 per litre.

“The weekly price adjustment is based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, which takes into account the average price of the previous week.

The ongoing crisis in West Asia continues to create uncertainty in the global petroleum market, with conflict risks remaining high and market direction still difficult to predict.

Retail prices for RON97 and unsubsidised RON95 are adjusted in line with international market movements,” the ministry said.

The MOF added that petroleum prices remain elevated compared with pre-conflict levels, with global supply constraints arising from damage to oil production and refining facilities in West Asia, which will take time to restore.

“The Madani Government will continue to take a prudent approach to protect the rakyat from price fluctuations, while ensuring the country’s fuel supply remains sufficient and secure,” the statement said, urging the public to use fuel prudently to strengthen national supply stability. – April 29, 2026
