KUALA LUMPUR – Allegations of lobbying, inducements and the alleged misuse of senior party leaders’ names have surfaced ahead of the PAS Non-Muslim Supporters Wing (DHPP) first-ever central assembly, scheduled to take place later today.
Sources close to the party told Scoop that certain quarters within DHPP are alleged to have been invoking the name of PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan to influence contestants, creating an impression of official backing ahead of the assembly.
“It is alleged that certain individuals are misusing Takiyuddin’s name to influence contestants and create the impression of official backing.”
Sources also claimed that candidates were being told that support from the party leadership was already secured, despite no such endorsement being made.
There are further claims that contestants were being offered internal rewards, including organisational postings, should they emerge victorious.
In some instances, it was also allegedly suggested that successful candidates could receive travel-related benefits and other informal perks.
More significantly, sources alleged that discussions had taken place involving longer-term political rewards, including potential government positions or even senatorships, should Perikatan Nasional (PN) form the government after the next general election.
“Conversations are said to have included references to possible appointments within the government administration, as well as consideration for positions in senatorship, framed in a way that links present internal backing to future political placement and opportunities.”
The alleged practices have been described as a form of lobbying involving inducements in exchange for securing votes or loyalty, with sources claiming the approach is being carried out within a centralised nationwide Structure Rather Than At State Level.
Concerns have also been raised that such practices could undermine the integrity of the electoral process, which is expected to be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
There are also suggestions that specific groups or quotas within the movement are being targeted to influence the outcome.
When contacted by Scoop, Takiyuddin who is also PN’s chief wip confirmed that DHPP will hold its first central assembly.
He stressed that PAS does not permit any campaigning or lobbying by members on behalf of themselves or others for any position within the party or its wings, including DHPP.
Takiyuddin strongly denied any use of his name or that of other PAS leaders to falsely claim endorsement or to suggest that rewards or incentives would be offered in exchange for support.
“If anyone makes such claims, I hope a police report will be lodged so the matter can be investigated by the authorities,” he said.
He added that the allegations were defamatory and said he would look into the matter personally, adding that PAS would take appropriate action if those responsible were identified.
“I firmly state that these are slanderous accusations, and I myself will investigate them. If those responsible for this slander and deception are identified, PAS will take appropriate action,” he said.
The DHPP was formed in 2010 as a platform for non-Muslim supporters of PAS to engage with the party and participate in its activities as supporters, rather than formal members.
The wing operates within PAS’ broader organisational structure and serves as a liaison platform for engagement with non-Muslim communities, as well as for outreach and political coordination at the party level. – May 9, 2026
