KUALA LUMPUR – Ampang PKR wants the seat’s MP Rodziah Ismail to resign from the party and vacate her parliamentary seat, following her attendance at an event by Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad yesterday where they announced their move to another party.
Ampang PKR deputy chief Daing Mahmud Reduan Bachok said Rodziah’s presence at the event had triggered concerns among grassroots members and supporters as she is seen to be heaving inconsistently with PKR’s direction.
“Rodziah has caused significant concern among party members and supporters at the grassroots level,” Daing Mahmud said in a statement today.
“The people of Ampang gave their mandate to PKR and Pakatan Harapan and do not want to see the party undermined by internal political games, factional manoeuvring, or the actions of any individual who fails to uphold loyalty to the party’s struggle,” Doing added.
Yesterday, Rafizi and Nik Nazmi announced their resignation as the MPs for Pandan and Setiawangsa, respectively, to take effect today (May 18).
They also announced that they would be taking over Parti Bersama Malaysia (PBM), an existing party registered in Penang since 2016.
Besides Rodziah, other PKR MPs who attended the announcement yesterday included Balik Pulau MP Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik, Subang MP Wong Chen, Sungai Siput MP, Kesavan Subramaniam, Wangsa Maju MP Zahir Hassan and Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung.
Of the above, Wong has hinted at his exit from PKR to join PBM when elections are to be held.
“If I decide to stand in the next general election, it will be as a Bersama candidate,” Wong told Scoop in a brief text message.
PKR today said its political bureau will hold a meeting tomorrow to discuss the attendance of other MPs at Rafizi and Nik Nazmi’s event, and decide what action should be taken against them. – May 18, 2026
