KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered authorities to enforce the law rigorously against traders and business owners who violate regulations or misuse business licences, visas, and other government-provided facilities.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil emphasised that the directive covers all individuals, including Malaysian citizens, and stressed that no one is immune from legal action.
“The Prime Minister has instructed that strict enforcement measures be taken against all parties who have violated the provisions of the law, as well as those who have abused business licences, visas, or business facilities granted by the government, including Malaysian citizens,” Fahmi said during his weekly press conference today.
Addressing questions on whether the instruction relates to the current Rohingya situation, where a petition has called for their removal from Malaysia, Fahmi clarified that the enforcement does not target any specific group.
“The Prime Minister did not single out any particular group,” he said, adding that the matter should be managed by the relevant authorities.
The petition, launched on Change.org under the account name “Aku Anak Malaysia” on May 29, urges the government to formulate a comprehensive policy to address the continued arrival of Rohingya refugees.
It claims that the increasing number of Rohingya is placing pressure on public resources, infrastructure, and social services.
According to Utusan Malaysia, the account behind the petition argues that the growing refugee population has intensified social and economic strain in various sectors.
As of June 5, 2026, the petition has attracted over 280,000 signatures. – June 5, 2026
