KUALA LUMPUR – The Election Commission (EC) has officially received notification of the dissolution of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly today.

EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said the notification was submitted by the Negeri Sembilan DUN Speaker, Datuk M K Ibrahim Abd Rahman, via a letter regarding the dissolution of the 15th State Assembly under Article 56(2) of the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution 1959, Bernama reported.

“Based on Article 56(4) of the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution, a state general election must be held within 60 days from the date of the DUN’s dissolution,” he said in a statement.

He added that a special meeting would be convened to discuss key dates for the state election, with the schedule to be announced later.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, at a special press conference at his official residence last night, confirmed that the Negeri Sembilan DUN had been officially dissolved today to allow for the 16th State Election.

Aminuddin said the dissolution followed the consent of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, during an audience at Istana Besar Seri Menanti. – June 5, 2026
