KUALA LUMPUR – Hiker Jaslinda Saludin, 49, who went missing during a trek at Gunung Batu Putih near Tapah on May 24, has been found safe after nearly two weeks in the wilderness.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Sayani Saidon said the supply chain executive from a private company was discovered by a villager, Nazri Bah Eng, near Kampung Lubuk Gaharu, Pos Musoh, at about 3pm today, Bernama reported.

“Upon finding the victim, he informed his nephew in Johor, who then lodged a report with the authorities,” he said in a statement.

Sayani said Jaslinda was in stable condition and had been temporarily placed at the residence of the Tok Batin of Kampung Lubuk Gaharu while authorities coordinated the next steps.

Jaslinda was among a group of 14 hikers accompanied by two Forestry Mountain Guides who began the Trans Spencer Chapman expedition at 2am on May 23. The route covered Pos Gedung, Gunung Bah Gading, Gunung Batu Putih and Kuala Woh.

According to reports, Jaslinda and fellow hiker Mohd Hanafi Neikmad, 41, experienced health issues during the expedition and stopped their climb. However, Jaslinda later resumed her journey towards the summit.

She was last seen on May 24 before being reported missing, prompting a large-scale search and rescue operation.

Her discovery today brings a successful conclusion to the nearly two-week search effort.- June 6, 2026
