KUALA LUMPUR — Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said proposals submitted by PAS regarding its relationship with Bersatu and efforts to strengthen Perikatan Nasional (PN) will be brought to the party’s Supreme Leadership Council for consideration.
In a statement on Saturday, Muhyiddin confirmed that he had received a letter from the PAS secretary-general dated June 6, which outlined matters concerning cooperation between Bersatu and PAS, as well as several suggestions aimed at reinforcing the opposition coalition.
“We will consider these proposals and bring the matter to the Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council for examination,” he said.
Muhyiddin did not disclose details of the proposals but reiterated Bersatu’s commitment to maintaining cooperation with PAS within PN.
“Bersatu reaffirms its commitment and resolve to continue fostering strong relations with PAS within Perikatan Nasional,” he added.
The brief statement comes amid ongoing attention on ties between the two largest parties in PN and discussions on the coalition’s future direction.
Bersatu’s Supreme Leadership Council is expected to deliberate on the proposals before any further decisions are announced.
Earlier, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said the party would make a decision on its collaboration with Bersatu the following day.
Speaking to reporters after the launch of his book The Iran-Israel War at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KILF) 2026 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, he said: “Tomorrow, God willing.”
“We have a night meeting in Kuala Lumpur,” he added briefly when asked about speculation surrounding the current state of relations between Bersatu and PAS. – June 7, 2026
