Hisyamuddin Ghazali appointed new J-Kom director-general in leadership reshuffle

Political activist Hisyamuddin Ghazali, also known as Syam Ghaz, has been appointed as the new director-general of the Community Communications Department (J-Kom) in a leadership reshuffle announced by the Communications Ministry, replacing Datuk Ismail Yusop who has been reassigned to the Prime Minister’s Office

KUALA LUMPUR — Political activist Hisyamuddin Ghazali has been appointed as the new director-general of the J-Kom, replacing Datuk Ismail Yusop in a leadership reshuffle announced by the Communications Ministry.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said Ismail has been reassigned to a new post under the Prime Minister’s Office.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Datuk Ismail, who has been called up for a new assignment by the Prime Minister’s Office, and to welcome Syam Ghaz (Hisyamuddin Ghazali), who has been selected to lead the Communications Unit,” Fahmi said during the ministry’s monthly assembly this morning.

Hisyamuddin, also known as Syam Ghaz, previously served at the Home Ministry and is expected to take on his new role immediately.

Datuk Ismail Yusop, who previously helmed J-Kom, will continue his service in a different capacity within the Prime Minister’s Office. – June 8, 2026
