KUALA LUMPUR – Police have been informed of the “Himpunan Gegar TikTok” assembly scheduled for tomorrow outside TikTok’s headquarters at Sunway Velocity in Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said authorities have engaged with the event organisers and will facilitate the gathering while prioritising public safety.
“We received information through the media and proposals regarding the gathering. We will assist in facilitating the event.
“If such a gathering is organised, we will ensure that the safety of all parties remains our priority. Should there be any violence or violations of the law, police will take the firmest possible action,” he said, as reported by NST.
Fadil made the remarks after officiating the Kuala Lumpur Police Traffic Awareness Advocacy Programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Alam Damai in Cheras.
The rally was reportedly initiated by businessman Albert Tei, who invited the public, particularly TikTok users, to join the event.
In a video statement shared on the Reformasi Studio “Albert Tei” Facebook page, he said the gathering aims to voice frustration at TikTok over restrictions on Malaysian users and government accounts.
“In just a month, my TikTok account has been blocked three times. Most surprisingly, on Monday, I opened a new TikTok account, but it was blocked within 24 hours,” he said.
He described the platform’s actions as a violation of his constitutional right to freedom of speech.
“I want to emphasise to social media platforms, do not be swayed by the government to do bad things. Malaysia is a democratic country,” he said.
He also cautioned against adopting a “communist culture” and suppressing the voices of Malaysians.
The gathering is set for tomorrow, June 13, 2026, at 10am, with participants instructed to wear black, in front of the TikTok office at Sunway V2 Tower, Wario City, Cheras.
