Sanjeevan blasts PN leadership over NS poll preparations, warns coalition ‘already losing from within’

Bersatu Supreme Council member Sri Sanjeevan Ramakrishnan has accused Perikatan Nasional's top leadership of failing to prepare for the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election, citing delays in appointing a state chairman, the absence of coordination meetings and continued uncertainty over the coalition's future following PAS' split with Bersatu

KUALA LUMPUR – Vice-chief of associate wing of Bersatu and a member of Bersatu’s supreme leadership council Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan Ramakrishnan has slammed Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders for what he described as a glaring lack of preparation ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election.

In a statement today, Sanjeevan pointed out that despite the dissolution of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly, PN has yet to appoint a state chairman or hold a single official meeting to coordinate its election machinery, raising serious concerns over the coalition’s readiness for the polls.

“This is no longer an ordinary delay but a serious failure of leadership,” he said.

Sanjeevan argued that PN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar should have ensured the state’s leadership structure and election machinery were finalised before the dissolution of the assembly.

“The fact that these basic matters remain unresolved as the election approaches proves a failure to make proper preparations,” he added.

He claimed grassroots machinery members were still waiting for clear instructions and direction from the coalition’s leadership, but had instead been met with silence and a lack of coordination, guidance and visible leadership.

Sanjeevan also raised concerns over the coalition’s future following PAS’ announcement that it was ending its political cooperation with Bersatu.

He said PN leaders have yet to provide a clear explanation on the coalition’s position following the development.

“This is not a minor issue because it concerns the future and survival of the coalition itself. Remaining silent is not diplomacy. Remaining silent is a sign that there are no answers to give,” he said.

According to Sanjeevan, the combination of unresolved leadership appointments, the absence of coordination meetings and uncertainty surrounding the PAS-Bersatu relationship reflects broader weaknesses within the coalition.

“There is no state chairman, no coordination meeting and no explanation regarding the coalition’s direction. This is not merely one or two management weaknesses but a comprehensive leadership failure at the highest level,” he said.

He warned that prolonged inaction could weaken confidence within the coalition and affect its electoral prospects.

“If this situation is not corrected immediately, Perikatan Nasional does not need to wait until polling day to suffer defeat. The defeat is already happening now, slowly and from within,” he said.

Sanjeevan concluded by urging Ahmad Samsuri to demonstrate leadership through action rather than rhetoric.

“People do not need statements that sound good. The people need firm and effective leadership.

“PAS has long taken pride in Datuk Seri’s leadership qualities. Now is the time to prove them through action, not merely claims,” he said.

Earlier, former PN Negeri Sembilan chairman and Labu assemblyman Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker resigned from the post effective Jan 1, 2026, following Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation as PN national chairman – June 12, 2026
