KUALA LUMPUR – PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has confirmed that the party met with the Reset group yesterday, as questions continue to swirl over the future direction of Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Speaking to reporters after Friday prayers at Masjid Dua today, Hadi said further details would be revealed during a meeting in Tanah Merah tomorrow.

“Tomorrow, there is a meeting in Tanah Merah. God willing, I will announce it,” he said.

Hadi also confirmed that PAS will determine Bersatu’s future within PN during the coalition’s central working committee meeting next Wednesday, following the recent collapse of political cooperation between the two largest parties in the alliance.

“Based on the PN constitution, the removal of any component party requires a majority decision by the member parties,” he said.

The PAS president indicated that other PN component parties would be given the opportunity to decide whether they wished to align themselves with PAS or Bersatu as the coalition charts its next course.

At present, he stressed, PAS holds the coalition chairmanship while Bersatu remains a PN component party.

However, Hadi suggested that PAS intends to review and potentially reverse decisions made during the tenure of former PN chairman and Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.

He also said both Gerakan and Malaysian Indian People’s Party would need to decide whether to support PAS or Bersatu moving forward.

“It is up to those two parties whether to support Bersatu or PAS, but based on the constitution, the chairman has powers, including determining election logos and other matters,” he said.

His remarks come amid growing uncertainty over PN’s future following the breakdown in relations between PAS and Bersatu, raising questions over the coalition’s leadership structure and long-term stability.

On the possibility of PAS contesting the upcoming Johor state election on its own, Hadi said no decision had been made.

“We have heard the initial statement from Johor, and we haven’t decided yet. Tomorrow, at the end of the day, we will discuss it,” he said.

Earlier, PAS announced it was ending political cooperation with Bersatu. The Reset group subsequently issued a statement on PN’s Facebook page expressing disappointment with Bersatu’s leadership. – June 12, 2026
