KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 5,953 police personnel together with members of other enforcement agencies will be mobilised throughout the Negeri Sembilan state election period to safeguard the democratic process and maintain public order.
State police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the force comprises 4,845 senior officers and rank‑and‑file personnel, with the remainder drawn from support units including the People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA) and police volunteer reserve.
“We are maintaining a high level of readiness through various comprehensive preparations that have been put in place from the outset, including security measures, traffic control, monitoring of campaign activities, law enforcement, and preparations for any eventuality throughout the election period,” he told Bernama today.
Alzafny stressed that ongoing assessments would continue, with the possibility of requesting reinforcements from other contingents if required to strengthen resources and ensure operational effectiveness.
At the same time, he affirmed the police’s commitment to uphold the rights of all parties to campaign within the law.
“Accordingly, security monitoring and control measures will be intensified to ensure that all campaign activities, including political ceramah, party processions and election‑related programmes, are conducted peacefully and in compliance with regulations set by the authorities,” he said.
He warned that stern action awaits any individual or party found violating the law, inciting provocation, or engaging in acts that threaten public order and the smooth conduct of the democratic process.
Alzafny also urged political parties, candidates, supporters and the public to embrace political maturity, respect differing views and comply with the law throughout the campaign.
The public was further advised against provocation, spreading false information or engaging in actions that could heighten tension and jeopardise social harmony.
The Election Commission (EC) has fixed Aug 1 as polling day for the Negeri Sembilan state election, with nomination on July 18 and early voting on July 28. – June 15, 2026
