KUALA LUMPUR – A Form Three student suspected of stabbing a fellow pupil at a secondary school in Banting is believed to have harboured resentment towards several schoolmates whom she claimed had bullied her, although police investigations have so far found no evidence that bullying had occurred.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the suspect’s explanation centred on feelings of dissatisfaction and pent-up anger towards several students.
“At this early stage of the investigation, the reason given relates to dissatisfaction or, in other words, suppressed feelings towards several schoolmates whom the suspect alleged had bullied her,” he told reporters during a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters today.
“However, based on the statements recorded so far, there is nothing to indicate that bullying activities had taken place.”
Shazeli said police have recorded numerous statements, including from 10 students whose names were circulated on social media in connection with the case.
“The investigation into the stabbing is still ongoing and has not been completed. I urge the public to allow investigating officers the space to conduct a thorough inquiry before any conclusions are drawn,” he said.
He added that the victim remains in stable condition and is undergoing treatment and rehabilitation in hospital.
“We have also interviewed the victim,” he said.
When asked whether the suspect’s actions may have been influenced by violent or criminal content viewed on social media, Shazeli said investigators are also examining that possibility.
“I cannot disclose the type of social media videos involved because the matter is still under police investigation,” he said.
Earlier, several letters believed to have been written by the 15-year-old suspect went viral online, with multiple Threads accounts uploading the notes shortly after the incident.
The letters were understood to contain references to the suspect and several other individuals.
In the incident, which occurred at about 9.30am on Monday, a Form Three student sustained injuries to several parts of her body after she was allegedly stabbed with a knife on school grounds.
The suspect, who had reportedly been absent from school for several months while undergoing medical treatment, is believed to have entered the school through the main entrance.
Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi previously said the suspect had been remanded for four days until Friday to assist investigations under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder. – July 9, 2026
