KUALA LUMPUR — Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan has filed a RM10 million defamation lawsuit against Bersatu information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz over comments allegedly made during a podcast last year.

According to Malay Mail Online, Wan Saiful’s legal team filed a writ of summons and statement of claim at the Shah Alam Civil High Court yesterday after Tun Faisal allegedly declined to resolve the matter.

“The defamatory statement is not only false and damaging to my reputation, but also implies that Tan Sri Muhyiddin abused his power,” Wan Saiful said in a Facebook post today.

Wan Saiful claimed that Tun Faisal made the alleged defamatory remarks during an episode of The Tiger Show on October 31, 2025, where he allegedly suggested that Wan Saiful was awarded a Jana Wibawa project because it was granted by former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said his lawyers had earlier issued a letter to Tun Faisal on December 3 last year, demanding that he retract the statements, issue an apology and pay RM10 million in damages.

Wan Saiful said Tun Faisal’s lawyers responded on January 12, informing him that their client would not comply with the demands.

Following this, Wan Saiful said his lawyers proposed a settlement on March 2 and issued a final letter on July 7 after receiving no response for four months.

He said legal action was subsequently taken after Tun Faisal allegedly failed to provide a response or present any meaningful settlement proposal. – June 14, 2026
