KUALA LUMPUR – Angkatan Muda Harapan (AMH) has demanded that all Barisan Nasional (BN) ministers and deputy ministers quit the federal Cabinet, accusing the coalition of betraying the Unity Government through its growing ties with Perikatan Nasional (PN).
In a joint statement, AMH said BN’s open cooperation with PN in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections raised grave doubts about its loyalty to the Unity Government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“BN’s willingness to openly cooperate with PN is clear evidence it no longer values the trust and positions entrusted to it by the Prime Minister,” the youth coalition declared.
AMH also hit out at BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, saying his remarks that BN‑PN cooperation could be tested at state level before being expanded nationwide showed the alliance was preparing for a new political alignment ahead of GE16.
“The BN‑PN cooperation is no longer temporary or tactical, but represents preparations towards forming a new political alignment,” AMH said.
The group warned that BN’s dual role — remaining in the Unity Government while courting PN — would only confuse the public. It noted BN had already been accommodated by Pakatan Harapan (PH), receiving state executive council posts in Penang and Selangor after the 2023 elections despite PH leading both states.
AMH accused BN of repeatedly testing the patience of its partners and urged its ministers to step down immediately so the party could pursue PN ties without destabilising the federal administration.
“We call on all BN ministers and deputy ministers to resign immediately so BN can focus entirely on strengthening its political cooperation with PN without affecting the federal government,” the statement said.
The coalition added that resignations would end BN’s “two‑faced” approach, reduce public confusion, and minimise risks of attempts to destabilise the Unity Government. Malaysians, it said, want a government focused on economic growth, unity and people’s well‑being — not parties playing race‑religion politics for narrow interests.
The statement was signed by AMH information chief and Amanah Youth deputy chief Ammar Atan, DAPSY publicity secretary Ho Chi Yang, Angkatan Muda Keadilan information chief Danish Hairudin, and WARDA communications bureau director Syazana Nasir.
Earlier, DAP secretary‑general Anthony Loke said PH was ready to face any rival realignment, including BN‑PN cooperation, ahead of the Negeri Sembilan polls. He stressed PH would not be distracted by opponents’ manoeuvres and would stay focused on strengthening its election machinery. – July 19, 2026
