KUALA LUMPUR — Outgoing Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has delivered his final message to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), urging all personnel to protect the integrity and reputation of the Sang Saka Biru force.
Ayob Khan reminded officers and members of the force not to tarnish an institution built on the sacrifices, dedication and lives lost by generations of police personnel who served before them, Bernama reported.
“Do not damage this force because of personal interests, do not sell your dignity for money, do not use your power to oppress the weak and never forget that behind every police badge we carry, there are people who expect justice,” he said.
He was speaking at the handover ceremony between him and Bukit Aman Special Branch director Datuk Seri Ibrahim Darus, who has been appointed acting Deputy Inspector-General of Police effective today.
The ceremony, held at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here, was witnessed by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail.
Ayob Khan, who will officially retire tomorrow after almost 35 years with PDRM, also called on members of the force to uphold integrity not only when they are being observed, but also when no one is watching.
“It is not about who we are when we are praised, but who we are when no one is watching. Remember, people may not see, your superiors may not know, but Allah always sees,” he said.
The Kota Setar-born police veteran described his career in PDRM as more than just a profession, saying the force had instilled in him the values of courage, loyalty and sacrifice.
“I know what it feels like to leave my family behind for the call of duty, to work under pressure, and I know what it feels like to serve sincerely without being appreciated.
“But never stop doing what is right because Allah SWT never lets sincere deeds go unrewarded,” he said.
Throughout his career, Ayob Khan held several key positions, including within the Special Branch and its Counter-Terrorism Division. He also served as Johor Police Chief, Director of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department before being appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police on June 23, 2023.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Darus takes over as acting Deputy IGP following Ayob Khan’s retirement.
The appointment comes as PDRM prepares for the transition of leadership, with Ibrahim expected to assume the deputy chief’s responsibilities while awaiting a permanent appointment. – July 26, 2026
