KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan (PH) suffered another major setback in the Negeri Sembilan state election, with caretaker Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun losing the Linggi state seat, according to unofficial results.
The defeat comes shortly after Transport Minister and DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke’s loss in Chennah, marking a bruising night for PH as two of its most prominent leaders in the state failed to retain their constituencies.
Aminuddin, who has led the Negeri Sembilan government since 2018, was seeking to continue as Menteri Besar following the election. His defeat in Linggi is a significant blow to PH’s efforts to retain its influence in the state.
The Linggi constituency had been closely watched due to Aminuddin’s position as the incumbent Menteri Besar and Negeri Sembilan PH chairman. His loss raises questions over the coalition’s ability to maintain support among voters and defend seats previously considered strongholds.
During his tenure, Aminuddin played a key role in steering the state administration and was among PH’s most recognisable leaders in Negeri Sembilan.
His defeat, together with Loke’s shock loss in Chennah, represents a major setback for PH’s state leadership and could prompt the coalition to review its political approach ahead of future elections.
The Negeri Sembilan state election saw all 36 state seats contested, with PH, Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) vying for control of the state. – August 1, 2026
