KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered an immediate, full-scale investigation into a horrific early-morning collision involving an Immigration Department lorry that claimed the lives of a father and his two young daughters.

Taking to Facebook to address the tragedy, Anwar made it clear that authorities will not hesitate to penalize those responsible if foul play or carelessness played a role in the fatal crash along Jalan Sultan Ismail.

“I have ordered the Immigration Department to carry out an immediate and comprehensive investigation. If negligence or any breach of the law is found, appropriate action must be taken without compromise,” he said.

Expressing his deep sympathies to the surviving family members, Anwar added:

“I also convey my deepest condolences to the family of the victims.”

The tragic incident unfolded around 1:00 AM at the Maju Junction traffic-light intersection. A 53-year-old man and his two daughters, aged 25 and 12, died on the spot after their vehicle was broadsided by the Immigration Department lorry.

The tragedy leaves a mother grieving from a hospital bed. The man’s 55-year-old wife suffered severe trauma to her head, arms, and legs. She is currently fighting for recovery in the Red Zone at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

According to police reports, the unladen Isuzu ‘Black Maria’ truck was en route from the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Office toward Chow Kit to carry out an enforcement operation targeting undocumented migrants when the collision occurred. – August 19, 2026
