KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 17 Pakatan Harapan (PH) state assemblymen, including six who were defeated in the previous state election, and two constituency coordinators in Negeri Sembilan have been instructed to return allocations received for July to September within one month.
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim said the repayment was required as the individuals no longer held any official functions following the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly on June 5, Bernama reported.
He said the allocations were approved during a State Executive Council (Exco) meeting on June 3 and transferred into their accounts the following day.
The funds, which covered service centre operations and people’s welfare programmes, were distributed to the assemblymen as well as the Paroi and Labu constituency coordinators.
Each assemblyman is required to return RM174,000, while each coordinator must repay RM150,000.
“However, the Exco members at the time, including former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, retained their ex-officio status until July 31 and were eligible to use the allocation for that month,” he told reporters after chairing the Exco meeting here today.
Ismail said the former Exco members had received RM225,000 in total allocations for the three-month period, but were only required to return RM150,000 covering August and September.
He added that his office would issue official letters requesting the repayment of the allocations to all affected individuals soon.
Meanwhile, Ismail said the state government had agreed to appoint Rembau MIC Division chief Datuk VS Mogan as Coordinating Officer for Indian Community Affairs, with Exco-member status, effective Sept 1. – August 26, 2026
