KUALA LUMPUR – Ousted Negeri Sembilan executive council (Exco) members have begun receiving their formal revocation letters following an unprecedented political purge by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, who revoked all state Exco appointments with immediate effect over a breach of office oath.
Gemencheh assemblyman Suhaimizan Bizar and Serting assemblyman Mohd Fairuz Mohd Isa both confirmed receiving their notification letters from the palace on Sunday.
Suhaimizan, who held the Health, Unity, Information, National Integration, and NGOs portfolio, confirmed the receipt when contacted but declined to elaborate further.
“Yes, I received the letter yesterday, but I cannot comment further for now,” Suhaimizan said.
Mohd Fairuz, the former Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, Climate Change, Cooperatives, and Consumerism chairman, echoed the same stance, staying tight-lipped on the sudden royal dismissal.
The swift action follows actions and statements made by the council members on September 15 that directly violated their pledge of loyalty to the Ruler and the Royal Institution.
In a late-night statement issued Sunday by Istana Besar Seri Menanti Comptroller Dato’ Azizi Mohamad Ali, the palace confirmed that each affected Exco member had been individually served with a dismissal notice.
The Exco line-up—who took and signed their solemn oath of allegiance on August 7—had sworn to safeguard the state Constitution and uphold the authority of the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang.
“However, they have breached that oath by their actions and statements on September 15,” the statement read.
Under Article XXXVIII(5) of the Laws of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan 1959, all Exco members—excluding the Menteri Besar—serve strictly at the pleasure of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.
Following the purge, Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim has been ordered to immediately present a fresh slate of candidates for the Ruler’s consideration and consent, in accordance with Article XXXVIII(2) of the state Constitution.
Tuanku Muhriz directed the Menteri Besar to ensure state governance remains uninterrupted, emphasizing that public interest and welfare must be fully protected throughout the transition.
