KUALA LUMPUR — The future of Perikatan Nasional (PN) as a registered political coalition has been thrown into question after a purported notice from the Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS) went viral on social media today.
According to Sinar Harian, the document, dated Sept 22, is said to be a notice of cancellation of PN’s registration and gives the coalition’s chairman 30 days to submit representations to the RoS.
It was reported that a separate written order, purportedly dated Sept 23, also claims that all activities involving PN, including the use of its name, have been suspended with immediate effect under Subsection 13(2) of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832).
However, the authenticity and status of the documents have yet to be officially confirmed by the RoS.

The RoS is understood to be preparing an official statement on the issue tomorrow.
The development comes amid an ongoing dispute within PN following a complaint lodged by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) with the RoS over the party’s position and involvement in the coalition.
The RoS had earlier confirmed that it received Bersatu’s formal complaint on August 11, which included allegations that the party had not been involved in the PN Supreme Council meeting on July 16, as well as questions surrounding its membership status within the coalition.
Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had on Saturday called on the RoS to make an immediate decision on the complaint.
Muhyiddin said Bersatu had raised eight key matters which it alleged had been breached by the PN leadership.
The latest development has now put the spotlight on the RoS and whether the purported documents circulating online accurately reflect the status of PN’s registration and activities. – September 23, 2026
