KUALA LUMPUR – The government will implement an elevated Autonomous Rapid Transit (e-ART) system to ease traffic congestion in Johor Bahru under Budget 2027.

Tabling the budget in the Dewan Rakyat today, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government would also introduce additional bus routes, increase service frequencies, expand KTM Komuter services and provide Grab Shuttle services in high-demand areas ahead of the opening of the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link.

The measures are aimed at improving public transport connectivity and easing traffic congestion as cross-border travel between Johor Bahru and Singapore prepares for a major boost with the RTS Link.

Meanwhile, the government will intensify the development of Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC) to attract investments and create employment opportunities.

It will also offer tax deductions of up to RM5 million to fully locally owned automotive vendor companies relocating to the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley in Tanjong Malim.

The incentive will cover qualifying relocation costs incurred between Jan 1, 2027, and Dec 31, 2030. – October 9, 2026
