Budget 2027: GLCs, Petronas target RM58bil in Bumiputera procurement

The government will update GLC procurement guidelines from 2027, with Bumiputera vendors assessed on business growth, innovation and their ability to penetrate new markets

KUALA LUMPUR – Government-linked companies (GLCs) and Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) are targeting RM58 billion in procurement from Bumiputera companies under Budget 2027.

Tabling the budget in the Dewan Rakyat today, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said procurement guidelines for GLCs, which have remained unchanged since 2006, would be updated from 2027.

He said the government would also assess the success of Bumiputera vendors based on their business growth, innovation and ability to penetrate new markets, as part of efforts to strengthen their competitiveness and expand business opportunities. – October 9, 2026
