KUALA LUMPUR – All educational institutions under the Education Ministry in Melaka will resume operations tomorrow (Oct 12) after air pollutant index (API) readings at monitoring stations across the state fell below 100.

State Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman said the decision was made based on the latest air quality conditions, with priority given to the education, safety and well-being of students, teachers and other members of the school community, Bernama reported.

“Accordingly, administrators of educational institutions are urged to take appropriate measures to ensure the smooth operation of their respective institutions and to comply with current directives and guidelines set by the Ministry of Education and relevant authorities.

“Parents and guardians are also advised to continue monitoring their children’s health and to seek treatment if they experience symptoms related to air pollution,” he said in a statement today.

Rahmad said any changes to the operating arrangements would be announced through the official channels of the Melaka State Education Department (JPN).

JPN Melaka also expressed its appreciation to all parties for their concern and cooperation in maintaining educational continuity while protecting the well-being of the state’s education community.

Data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) showed that, as of 2pm today, the API stood at 91 in Alor Gajah, 94 in Bukit Rambai and 96 in Bandaraya Melaka, all within the moderate category. – October 11, 2026
