KUALA LUMPUR – Grief shrouded the funeral of Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) officer Norhazwani Ibrahim, 35, who was laid to rest at the Tanjong Muslim Cemetery in Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat early today.
Her remains arrived at her family home in Kampung Banjir, Telaga Lanas, at 1.10 am where funeral prayers were conducted before the burial. Family members, relatives, and close friends gathered to pay their final respects.
Her elder brother, Mohd Hazwan, 38, shared that their brief meeting on the morning of the tragedy has now become a cherished final memory. He explained that he had stayed overnight at her residence after completing work errands in Bangi before heading back to Kelantan.
“Everything seemed completely normal that morning. I never expected something like this to happen, which makes accepting her loss so much harder,” he told reporters at his family home.
Mohd Hazwan said he learned of her death through a phone call from her husband, who used Norhazwani’s mobile phone to reach him. Accepting her passing as God’s will, he expressed his gratitude to AKPS, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, and the Royal Malaysia Police for their assistance in managing the funeral arrangements from Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban to her hometown.
Norhazwani leaves behind two children, aged five and six, who are currently under the care of their maternal aunt in the village.
Her brother added that she worked tirelessly to provide for her children, visiting them whenever her shift schedule allowed, and had last returned home the previous week for a Syariah Court matter on Oct 12.
Last Thursday, Norhazwani was found dead at the KLIA quarters in Nilai, allegedly killed by her husband. Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad confirmed that police received information regarding the incident at 8.30 pm. – October 18, 2026
