KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan (PH) is staking its fortunes in the Melaka state election on multiracial inclusivity and uncompromising candidate integrity, resisting what its leadership describes as rising racial undertones in the campaign trail.
Prime Minister and PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the coalition deliberately selected a slate reflecting the Malay, Chinese, and Indian communities to offer clean, credible, and competent leadership for the historic state.
“With humility and a deep sense of responsibility, I appeal to the people of Melaka to place their trust in the HARAPAN team, which offers hard work, leadership with integrity and a proven track record in championing the people’s interests and developing the state,” Anwar posted on X today.
Urging voters to reject polarising politics at the ballot box, the Prime Minister called on the electorate to weigh candidates on merit, governance, and service delivery.
“May Allah SWT illuminate your hearts as you make your choices and grant HARAPAN the strength to serve to the best of its ability,” he added.
A total of 79 candidates are contesting the 28 state legislative assembly seats in the Nov 14 polls, with Pakatan Harapan fielding candidates in 24 constituencies. – November 7, 2026
