KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he will meet Perai incumbent P. Ramasamy to get clarity following the former Penang deputy chief minister’s exit from DAP.

Anwar said he understood DAP has some internal issues, but he would get Ramasamy’s views on the matter.

“Ramasamy is my friend. Surely, I will get his views. But I hope that (he) will (still) play a role in helping the Madani government,” he said on the sidelines after his keynote address at the 36th Asia-Pacific Roundtable at the Hilton KL hotel here today.

Earlier, Ramasamy announced he was quitting DAP, two days before the six state elections, including Penang.

Ramasamy, who was dropped as a candidate, claimed that an “emperor” has caused a political crisis within the party.

However, he reiterated his support for Anwar and caretaker Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow. – August 10, 2023
