KUALA TERENGGANU – Bukit Payung assemblyman Datuk Mohd Nor Hamzah has been appointed Terengganu speaker today.

Nor took the oath of office at the swearing-in ceremony before state assembly secretary Zulkifly Isa at Wisma Darul Iman here.

Nor, 51, who is also the state PAS treasurer, became an assemblyman in 2008 and was Terengganu’s human development, dakwah and information executive councillor for one term, from May 2018 until June 2023.

Meanwhile, Seberang Takir assemblyman Khazan Che Mat was appointed deputy speaker.

A total of 32 elected representatives who won in last month’s state elections took the oath of office before Zulkifly at the same ceremony today.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar led the swearing-in ceremony, followed by 10 executive councillors and 21 other assemblymen.

For the first time in the history of Terengganu, there is no opposition in the state assembly after Perikatan Nasional swept all 32 seats in the August 12 state polls. – September 24, 2023
