KUALA LUMPUR – The heat of the state polls reached a new high for Machang Bubuk assemblyman Lee Khai Loon (PKR), who fainted while campaigning earlier today.

In a Facebook post, the account’s admin shared that Lee had fallen unconscious in his operation room, which led to the cancellation of all the events he had lined up for the day.

A picture on the posting showed a man laying face down on a grass-padded floor, with his face hidden behind a stack of newspapers.

The post was inundated with comments wishing the 45-year-old a speedy recovery, as well as urging him to avoid overworking himself on the campaign trail.

Bayan Baru MP, Sim Tze Tzin, also noted the intensity of the state polls, and called on every candidate to maintain their well-being.

“Election is so intense. I wish (Lee) a speedy recovery.

“I wish all candidates from PH-BN, Pas-PN, Muda, PRM, (and) independent well. Take care of your health so that you can take (care) of the people,” he said in a Twitter post.

Lee has been the representative of Machang Bubuk since 2013. He will be defending his seat against Gerakan’s Tan Hum Wei. – August 6, 2023
