KUALA LUMPUR – Sri Pahang FC and Negeri Sembilan FC booked their spots in the Malaysia Cup quarterfinals after beating their second round opponents last night.

Sri Pahang beat Harini Selangor FT with a 5-2 aggregate after a 2-0 victory at Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan Pahang, both goals scored by team captain, Kpah Sean Sherman, the first in the 42nd minute and the second in the 51st minute.

Sri Pahang went into yesterday’s match with a 3-2 victory in the first leg at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi, Negeri Sembilan on August 4 and are scheduled to meet four-time champions Kuala Lumpur City FC in the quarterfinals.

Negeri Sembilan FC meanwhile enjoyed a 5-2 aggregate win over Kelantan United after winning 4-2 at home at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium last night.

Negeri Sembilan did not have a good start, with Kelantan import striker Jose Porteria scoring early in the third minute, but managed to recover and equalise through a Casagrande header in the 7th minute.

The home team then blazed ahead, adding two more goals, R Barathkumar scoring in the 19th minute and Myanmar import Hein Htet Aung finding the back of the net in the 34th minute, before the end of the first half.

In the second half, Kelantan managed to close the gap with a penalty by Indra Putra Mahyuddin in the 64th minute but Negeri Sembilan also were gifted with a penalty by Youssef Ezzejiari in the 87th minute, which put the match out of their rival’s reach at 4-2.
