China Open: Tze Yong takes advantage of Prannoy’s tiredness

The Commonwealth Games silver medalist will take on Indonesia's Shesar Hiren Rhustavito in the next round

KUALA LUMPUR – National men’s singles shuttler Ng Tze Yong wasted no time in dominating the courts at the China Open in Changzhou today.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medalist took advantage of H.S Prannoy’s tiredness from the recent World Championships in Copenhagen to beat the top shuttler from India.

“I took advantage of his tiredness from competing in Copenhagen a few weeks ago.

“All I did was give my best against the top player.

“His smashes are powerful, so I refrained from lifting the shuttle with him,” he told the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Tze Yong will next face Indonesia’s Shesar Hiren Rhustavito for a spot in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, national badminton ace Lee Zii Jia will kick off his campaign tomorrow against Japan’s Kodai Naraoka. – September 5, 2023
